Ceibo

Ceibo is the common name in Spanish for Erythrina crista-galli, a flowering tree native to Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and the south of Brazil. This species is widespread in the coastal area of La Plata River, where this particular photograph was taken. It usually grows in gallery forest ecosystems, near courses of water or in wetlands. It is the national tree of Argentina and its bright red flower, protagonist of local popular legends, has been designated the national flower of Argentina and Uruguay.
