Clamator Under the Rain
by Mellodora
The Striped Owl (Asio clamator) is a large owl from the Neotropics. Its distribution ranges from southern Mexico to northern Argentina and Uruguay. It can be found in relatively open habitats such as savannas, pastures, marshes and semi-open woodlands. The individual in this particular photo was seen in the coastal area of La Plata River in Buenos Aires, Argentina. These owls tend to have crepuscular and nocturnal habits, although they have been seen feeding during the day. They feed mostly on rodents, small birds and other small mammals and large insects.
