They closed my eyes, not to keep me from seeing, but to make sure I only saw what they wanted me to see. They wanted me to see the world through their eyes, to think, believe, and live inside a picture they had created for me. But my eyes refused to surrender. They detached from me, took flight, and saw the places I was never meant to see. Maybe freedom isn’t about opening your eyes. Maybe it’s having the courage to see with your own, even when everyone wants to show you the world through theirs.
