Sometimes I think my roots didn’t just keep me here; they became a part of me. I’ve lived with them for so long that I don’t know what would remain if I ever broke free from the ground. And the moon has always stayed just beyond my reach like something I return to every night, something I can see so clearly, yet never quite touch. I keep swinging between the pull that brings me back to the earth and the light that keeps drawing me upward. Maybe life is this distance between the roots I cannot deny and the moon I still long to reach.
