Ashes Can Fly
by Elishams
Sometimes, even our pain dreams of becoming free. She holds a cigarette between her fingers, watching its smoke slowly transform into a white bird. Perhaps it is a wish escaping her lips. Perhaps it is a thought she could never put into words. Or maybe it is the last fragment of freedom she has managed to create from everything that has been burning inside her. Her theatrical eyes carry the exhaustion of someone who has learned to smile through invisible storms. A black balloon floats beside her, holding the weight of forgotten dreams, while faded flowers cling to her dress like memories that refuse to disappear. There is something painfully beautiful about her contradiction: she creates a symbol of freedom from the very thing that consumes her. She is both the fire and the escape, the wound and the possibility of healing. And perhaps that is what makes her human. Even the things that hurt us sometimes give birth to the dreams that set us free. Hand drawn, oil on canvas
