What If I Am the Haunting?

What If I Am the Haunting?

by Elishams

Halloween is not always about the monsters we fear, but the ones we learn to hide. Somewhere between who we are and who the world expects us to be, we begin to wear faces that were never ours. One face learns to smile while another silently breaks. One sees what it can no longer bear to feel; another feels everything it desperately tries to escape. And somewhere beneath them all, a fragile self is still searching for a way to be seen. Perhaps the most haunting thing about being human is not the darkness within us, but how often we disguise our wounds as strength, our loneliness as independence, and our fear as indifference. This Halloween, look beyond the masks. Not every monster is evil. Not every beautiful face is at peace. And not every shadow is something we need to run from. Sometimes, the scariest thing we can do is face ourselves without a mask. Hand drawn , oil on canvas
