PANAH | پناه

by Maryam

She found him where the desert had forgotten how to speak. He came quietly, resting against her face as if he had known her all along. For a moment, neither of them needed to ask for anything. She offered him her hand; he offered her a little piece of the sky. Perhaps that is what Panah means not a place to hide, but a place where two fragile things can feel safe enough to stay. The bird in this painting is the Iranian Ground Jay (Podoces pleskei), known in Persian as Zāghbor. Endemic to Iran, it is one of the country's most distinctive birds, shaped by the dry landscapes it calls home. Its habitat is increasingly threatened by climate change and human activity, with much of its suitable range fragmented and unprotected. Physical watercolor on cotton paper Physical size: 50*70 cm
