The Weight of Whispers
by ☀Mitra✨_SGP
The Weight of Whispers In this piece, the emotional impact of rumors on women is portrayed as a quiet, hidden, shadow‑like form of violence that grows in the dark. Behind the window, restless silhouettes move, as the sound of whispering fills the space; voices echo inside the girl’s mind. As these whispers intensify, the thorn wrapped around her legs tightens, pulling her deeper into isolation. The rose, symbol of hope, beside her begins to wither, and the room gradually sinks into darkness. The thorns symbolize the restriction of her movement; a reminder of how external voices can imprison a woman within her own solitude. This piece reflects how rumors, even when spoken outside, can grow loudly inside the mind, creating silence, fear, and slowly pulling a person backward. This artwork is mixed media (pencil, colored pencil, and oil thinner) on 16×22 cm graph paper, combined with mixed digital media (Photoshop, Illustrator, and AI-assisted animation).
