The Bound Body
by ☀Mitra✨_SGP
In this painting, the woman’s body is caught within coils of thorns, thorns that, like wounds both external and internal, restrict her movement and make her breath heavy. Her figure, pressed between harsh and constricting lines, struggles between the desire for release and the pressures that surround and confine her. The shadow-like hands around her evoke forces that, silent yet constant, continue to assault her body. This work captures the moment in which a woman, bound by limitations, stands and resists. A physical painting created with pencil, colored pencil, oil thinner, and oil paint on 30 × 40 cm cardboard.
