January: The Bloodstain

The girl, as a symbol of Mother Earth, sits before the film reel of her life, where every frame carries a story from her past and present. She is both the creator and the narrator of her own life, yet in the midst of these frames, a red stain rests on the wing of a bird that once stood for flight and peace. This stain recalls a bloody day, one that cast its shadow across the history of her land and wounded the frame of her present. And still, the bird moves forward; wounded, yet in flight. This work is a testament to a hope that pushes through darkness, and to a woman who continues the film of her life even with frames marked by blood and shadow. Created with pencil, colored pencil, oil thinner, oil pastel and acrylic ink, this piece stands as a remembrance of January 8, 2026 on the page of history.
