The End Of Childhood

by PanteaAEW

There comes a day when the last toy is quietly placed inside a box not because it is no longer loved, but because life gently asks us to grow up. Childhood rarely ends with a single dramatic moment. Sometimes it ends with the soft closing of a door, the gathering of a few forgotten dolls, or the last supper shared with our imagination. From that moment on, the world no longer wears the same colors. Laughter becomes quieter, dreams grow heavier, and responsibilities slowly take the place of play. Yet somewhere deep within us, that child never truly disappears. They remain hidden in the memories of old toys, in the silence of an empty room, and inside a worn cardboard box_ waiting for the day someone opens it again and whispers, “Do you remember?” Poem & Music by Me …. For years in one small room, we shared one home, Wrapped in childhood laughter, never alone. You knew the language of my silent tears, I sheltered your quiet hopes and fears. Tonight, the last supper fills our eyes, One final embrace, one last goodbye. The door swung open… she stepped in, Our little girl had grown within. She laid us gently in a waiting box, The lid came down… childhood was lost. It wasn’t wood, or a box, or a closing door… It was childhood, whispering no more.
