But the other part, the one scarred by past loves, broken again and again, has grown hateful, terrified of love’s touch. It burns with rage, like a demon in hell, furious at the fragile part that still weeps and freezes from the absence of affection. It wants to remind him that it is tired, tired of bleeding, tired of breaking. He is trapped in an endless battle with himself. And yet, in this war, one thing remains: a heart that, despite all its wounds, still beats, still loves, still feels, and still forgives.
