The Man Who Stayed

I saw an old man sitting on the veranda of his home, in a place where the sunlight could reach him. He sat there, lost in thought. Perhaps he was going through old memories, perhaps thinking about the struggle to make ends meet today, perhaps... The scene seemed peaceful and comforting, but inside the mind of that elderly man, there may have been wars, wars he had survived, but from which he would never truly emerge. I took the photo and walked away. #PeoplE Collection 12/112 03/28/2013 / Karkabud, Iran
