Under Their Thumb
by Charoa
A city rises inside a thumbprint. Lines that once marked identity now hold towers of glass and steel. Pressure lives here. Structure. Expectation. The sense of being shaped by something larger than yourself. Yet the print remains unmistakably human. Whorls and ridges carry proof of presence. What presses down can also leave a mark. Within the weight of the skyline, identity does not disappear. It waits. This collection began with a single drawing. I fed it into Midjourney to see what it might become, what variations could emerge from one original design. From the outputs I selected the pieces that resonated, then returned to them by hand, correcting, redrawing, finishing. What you see is the result of three things in conversation: traditional art, digital art, and AI.
