Between Waking and Withering
by chissweetart
The world softens at the edges, colors melting into shadow, sound into silence. Each day slips quietly into the next, a slow fade of consciousness where nothing truly begins or ends. The meds dull the pain, but also the light — everything suspended in a fog that hums beneath my skin. Sleep comes and goes like a tide I can’t control. I wake, but it feels the same. The exhaustion lingers, heavy and constant, wrapping around me like a shroud. I breathe through it, yet it feels like breathing underwater — slow, muted, endless. This piece is the space between moments — where suffering is quiet, where existence blurs, and where I am still here, even when everything else disappears.
