Tiger

Tiger is the ninth piece from the Lighten up after the dark animals editions. The tiger is an endangered species found throughout Asia. The tiger needs a large habitat, many quiet natural areas have been lost due to the advance of man, so that there are fewer and fewer tigers. Furthermore, there is less and less large game available that can serve as food. In addition, the tiger is often the victim of poachers. Tigers have been shown to produce infrasound to drive rivals out of their territory and to attract mates. This discovery may explain how tigers maintain a large territory for themselves to hunt. Tigers produce a multitude of sounds, deep roars and growls, as well as a scraping sound (sort of like a purr) that they use to greet each other. A roar followed by a growl is apparently used to scare off rivals. Most tigers live in forest and grassland. They are good swimmers, they can often be found bathing in ponds, lakes and rivers. Tigers are hunting predators. Tigers hunt solitarily. It is not a social animal: the only groups are mother and cubs.
