As Above, Not Quite Below

As Above, Not Quite Below

by Mizuyōkaii

What happens above mirrors below, the macrocosm reflects the microcosm, the divine and earthly in perfect accord. But I am the breaking of that law. My reflection is asymmetrical. The one above is not the one below reversed, we are variations, not copies, twin attempts at the same unmaking arriving at different dissolutions. Sovereignty floats between us, suspended in the space where above meets below but refuses to fuse. Correspondence without sameness, connection without merging, the divine in the earthly but changed by the descent, the earthly reaching toward the divine but transformed by the attempt. What is above affects what is below. Yes, this is true, but the effect is not replication, it is translation and distortion, the way light bends passing through different mediums. Unity, the marriage of opposites, of heaven and earth reconciled, but what if the reconciliation isn't fusion but recognition? What if as above, so below means I can be both without becoming one? What if the unmaking is the acknowledgment that I was never meant to collapse into singular identity, that the divine-in-earthly and the earthly-reaching-divine are meant to exist in tension, in perpetual approach, because that would mean choosing, and choosing would mean collapsing the correspondence into hierarchy, deciding one matters more, into the lie that one reflection is more real than the other? To find a new identity, one must first be brave enough to watch the old one melt into the flowers and the stars. Mizuyōkaii, 2026 Dimensions: 5376x7680
