Do You Still Think Of Me?
by Mizuyōkaii
Do you still think of me even though you're gone? Am I in your quiet like mist over water, there and then not? You are like a shadow pooling in the hollows where my hands used to rest. But even if I am nothing but a reflection you refuse to look at directly, even if you have built a life in the space I used to occupy, I am still asking the question I will die asking, loving you in the only direction I have left, my compass pointing toward the you who might still be thinking of me the way I'm thinking of you. Even gone, separated by everything. Even now. Do you still think of me the way I think of you? Or is that unfair? To expect memory from something that has already let go? Because I think of you. In the morning when I wake alone. In the evening when the light goes soft. In every moment where I catch myself holding my own body the way I used to hold yours, trying to remember if warmth like that was ever really mine or if I only borrowed it for as long as you could bear to let me close. I hope you think of me. I hope the absence hurts you too, just enough to prove it mattered. I hope you wonder if I'm still holding myself together and wanting you in ways I never said out loud. Because I am. And even though you're gone, and the distance is permanent now, I still love you. And I hope that somewhere you still love me too. Maybe this is one-sided now. Maybe I’m the only one keeping us alive in fragments, replaying a show that no longer has any participants. Do you still think of me even though you’re gone? Or is that what being gone means, that I am the only one left to remember we were ever here at all? Mizuyōkaii, 2026
