In A World Gone Grey
by Mizuyōkaii
You sit in the branches of a world gone grey, The light is thin here. The distance blurs into nothing. You can't tell if there's beauty ahead or if it's just more of this colorless cold. But you hold on. Defiant and refusing to fade just because everything else has. The tree doesn't give. The sky doesn't promise. The world stretches flat and cold and you know, you know things will never be the same again. The spring you're waiting for isn't the one you lost. It can't be. That version is gone, and no amount of waiting will bring it back the way it was. Still, you wait. Cradled in the effigy of what once was. You wait for a sun you can't see, reach toward a distance that gives you nothing back. Because what else is there? You become your own spring. You carry the color. You are the warmth in a world that's forgotten how. You exist in the grey, vibrant and alone, holding on to light because letting go would mean becoming another shade of nothing. You refuse. You stay vivid, choosing to believe in spring that may not come. Your belief, the only warmth you have left to offer yourself in all this grey. Mizuyokaii, 2026 Dimensions: 7690x5376
