erosion of being
by nikomano
This work stems from an exploration of identity and memory, using the body as a territory for experimentation. Through the double exposure technique, I have sought to dissolve the boundaries between the human figure and the landscape, understanding that we are not isolated beings, but rather the result of constant wear and tear and reconstruction in the face of the world. In this piece, the skin acts as a cartography; the mineral and organic textures that overlap in the silhouette are not extraneous elements, but a visual representation of the traces that time and experience have left behind. It is an invitation to observe the body not as a static form, but as a geological structure subject to transformation. My intention is to confront the viewer with the idea that we are, simultaneously, the rock that resists and the wind that erodes. By positioning myself as the author, I transform this process into an act of self-archaeology: an attempt to unearth the layers that define us, revealing that in the apparent fragility of our existence lies our greatest capacity for permanence.
