The Scent of Freedom
by Sashelka
You’ll cover the earth with marble dust, Leave a note: “Goodbye, I’m leaving,” And with a bloodstained hand shut the door behind you. Sorry, but I won’t see you off… I will lie in clumps of damp clay, Hating the scent of freedom. You’ll tie my hands behind my back again, And again, and again, you leaving… Weaving notes from memory, Burning chords with your gaze, You look up at the blood-crimson sky, Hating, you come back again. This vicious circle of invisible thread I break with a farewell gesture. The blade tickles the vein, Evoking an eclipse of the mind… _ Photo by Sashelka Wednesbury, 2026 © 2026 Sashelka All rights reserved.
