Rising Hope

"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." — Desmond Tutu I created this photograph after going through one of the hardest and darkest periods of my life. Months of military service had left me drained - depressed, exhausted both mentally and physically, with nothing left inside. I was carrying a heavy weight that I could no longer hold. When my service finally ended, I dropped everything and took my family to Thailand, because I simply couldn't keep pushing anymore. A few days later, standing on top of a skyscraper, capturing this view while sipping fresh coconut juice, I felt something shift inside me. For the first time in months, I felt lighter.
