Star Girl
by Si Si
She yearned to be a Supernova— No soft, poetic, candlelight. But radiance enough to blind Grim heavens of the darkest night. She fed the world her dignity, Delicious, desperate snack. Said, “Here, go take a piece of me.” And never ever asked it back. So, climbing up, she realized: Each rung took more control. The higher that she sparkled, The less she owned her soul. But she clawed madly at the skies To staple on her lovely name. She lost all pieces of herself But hey, she won her twinkling fame. While in her ceaseless A-list dreams She once woke up and smelled the flowers, And smiled, remembering that stars Glow brightest in their final hours. And when at last she lit the night She felt the warmth beneath her skin. For if one wants to glow so brightly One has to burn from deep within.
