You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot keep spring from coming. pov: I created this piece on a day when it had been nearly 40 days since I had been away from my city and my home because of the war… I was sitting in a café in another, safer city, and suddenly I felt how deeply I missed my home, my city… how much this café smelled like home. After days filled with fear and the sound of explosions, it felt as if a spark of hope came alive within me. My hand began to move across the paper, almost dancing… and this work was born. My homeland has a history of 2,500 years… it is not a land that can be easily destroyed. But history will not forget these days either. I hope that when future generations read about contemporary Iran, they will also remember my painting… and know that even in the heart of darkness, it is still possible to create.
