Free Within the Storm

Sometimes, we shouldn’t fight with all our strength against things that are beyond our control. Life is like an ocean that is not always calm. Sometimes, waves come so high and so fierce that the harder we try to stand against them, the more exhausted and broken we become. She sits among the waves, her knees pulled close to her chest, allowing the water to pass over her head. Not because she has surrendered to defeat, but because she has learned that some waves cannot be stopped. Sometimes, we have to surrender ourselves to the current. Let the wave come, pass over us, and eventually drift away. Resistance is not always a sign of strength. Sometimes, letting go and accepting what we cannot change is the only way to survive. Because if we spend all our strength fighting the waves, we may lose ourselves before the sea ever becomes calm. Perhaps surrender does not always mean defeat. Sometimes, surrender means accepting the storm, protecting what remains of us, and waiting patiently for the sea to become calm again. Some waves do not come to break us; they come to teach us how to stay afloat.
