Hudoq

Hudoq is a masked dance performed which means an expression of gratitude and usually performed during traditional ceremonies for opening agricultural land of the Dayak ethnic group of East Borneo province, Indonesia. The hudoq itself means to incarnate. This mask dance believed that the figure of the guard will reincarnate to repel pests, disease and disaster from life. In the festival, the Hudoqs are symbolized by dancers who wearing various shapes of masks and jackets made of areca palm or banana tree bark and the entire body is covered with frayed pinang palm leaves.
