This piece is a love letter to HEN and a celebration of some artists from the early days. For many years, art was something that was created for everyone. However, in recent years, most of the traditional art has become something that is only for a select group of people. It is now seen as a luxury item and something that only the wealthy can afford. Art should be for everyone. It should be accessible to all. For me, HEN was the revolutionary platform for artists and collectors that no one knew we needed. Art has the ability to inspire and ignite change. In times of political and social upheaval, art can be used as a tool to voice dissent and spark revolutions. From the revolutionary artists of the French Revolution to the street artists of the Arab Spring, art has played a vital role in some of the most important moments in history. HEN was used as a tool for resistance and it helped us to see the world in new ways. What is art? It's a question that has been asked time and time again, and one that still doesn't have a clear answer. Is it something that can be defined, or is it something that is open to interpretation? Some people say that art is whatever brings someone joy or happiness. Others say that it's something that is beautiful or expresses a deep emotion. And still others say that art is something that is innovative or challenges the status quo. There is no right or wrong answer, but what we can say for sure is that HEN was checking all the marks. It was a way for us to express ourselves and to connect with others. It encompasses a diverse range of creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography, sculpture, digital art, poetry and paintings. No matter how you define it, art is a vital part of our lives. It’s also a powerful tool for social change and HEN was a pioneer of art democratization. While it may not always be easy, art is worth creating and there are a ton of platforms that took over where HEN left off. Keep experimenting and exploring, we are still in the embrionary stage of an historic art revolution!
