Rebeca Ruso de Perli

by Aaron Sosa

She was born on January 22, 1939 in Thessaloniki, Greece. As a child, her family moved to Athens, where they were caught up in World War II. Thanks to the permanent interference of a friend, they were able to hide in several houses until the end of the conflict. In 1948 she arrived in Venezuela with her parents and her brother born in 1945. Her integration into the Jewish community has been deep and she came to occupy for eighteen years the position of executive director of the Confederation of Israelite Associations of Venezuela (CAIV). Testimony: "One has to know what happened during the war, in the Holocaust. It is always said that six million Jews perished, but that is only a figure and behind each of those numbers there is a story that must be told, some more tragic than others, but all stories of human beings. All the survivors were marked by that experience. Those who perished ended up there, but the marks that remained are forever." Caracas - Venezuela 2010 aaronsosa.eth.co www.aaronsosaphotography.com Digital Photography Size: 5000 x 3321px 300 DPI About this project: In the history of mankind there can be found no other crime so heinous, nor so coldly calculated, as the one that as that which annihilated millions of human beings in the Nazi concentration camps. This project has allowed me to enter for a brief moment into the lives of an important group of these exiles and survivors, who arrived in Latin American lands many years ago to start a new life; and who have given me the honor of knowing a little about them and their experiences, as well as to photograph them and immortalize them through photography. So far in minting this collection I have been able to portray 58 survivors: 20 from Venezuela 25 from Uruguay 13 from Argentina The first part of the survivors that arrived in Venezuela were minted as 1/1 NFTs on the ETH blockchain. I have decided to make the survivors that arrived in Uruguay available in editions of 50 on the Tezos blockchain and the survivors from Argentina will be minted later. My intention with the sale of the NFTs is to self-finance the project to give it continuity. Soon I must travel to Chile where there are 13 survivors waiting to be portrayed and then continue moving around Latin America to continue with the project. Another of the main objectives is to finance the printing of a book that gathers all the portraits, biographies and testimonies of each survivor.
