Awake in Dreams

Awake in Dreams

by Jinous

She bows her head beneath the blooming bough, And on her lids the waking sleep lays deep. A wing beyond bird or angel stirs her brow — A trembling thought that breathes its own desire. Around her shoulders summer comes undone: The marigold, the ember, and the sun, And a dark butterfly, afraid of being lovely, Resting on a bloom near her jaw. She is awake, though all her eyes are closed. Her dreams are gardens lit by inward light, Where being closed is being most alive, And one who kneels may learn to fly. So let her dream. The world can hold its breath Beside the miracle that sleep becomes — The flowered quiet, silken touch of wings That know no sky except her own. For she who closes eyes may hold the key: To be awake in dreams is to be free. poem by: Me jpg File colored Pencil 40 X 22 CM Dimensions: 4333 X 7874 2.62 MB
